SVA Day

After 12 weeks of stress and some great days the SVA day finally arrived, we decided to take the car on the trailer and stay up in Taunton on the Sunday night so it would be a 20 min journey in the morning rather than 3 hours!!

Here are a few pics of the car before it’s SVA:

Day 20

Well what a day…………

Today was the day the car really came together with a 6.00am start we made some really good progress.

First job of the day was to get the tunnel fixed in place, once we got it fitted into place we found that the handbrake was fouling on the top of the tunnel so the handbrake light would not go off.  We had to remove the tunnel again which involved removing the handbrake again but as it was second time round it only took 10 minutes, after a bit of dremmeling (again) it went back in

After the tunnel was finished we cracked on getting the seats fixed in place

Once the seats where in this meant that I could actually drive the car, so after a quick tidy up we fired her up and drove her out the garage onto the drive.  After a bit of messing about I drove it up drive but had to push it back as it kept setting the neighbours car alarm off!!!! I didn’t have the full exhaust on!!!

 UPDATE

Well with time cracking on I now only have 2 full weekends to get the build finished in time for SVA, I have just had an email from MNR saying that they now only hope to be able to get the SVA kit to me for my test date, whereas before it was basically guaranteed!  This has happened to another builder recently and he has had to spend out an additional £300 to get the required bits, I know that there are a lot of builders out there trying to get their cars ready for SVA but…….

We will be starting early again tomorrow morning another 6.00am start to get a few more hours out of the day.   My friend who has been making me my metal bits / brackets etc has just dropped off the reverse handle he has made and I have to say I am well impressed with what he has done:

Once we get that fitted tomorrow we can then finally get the tunnel fitted and then tidy the wiring up, if we get the chance to fit the seats over the weekend I may even get to drive it up and down the drive!!!!!!!!!!!!
