Day 2:

I managed to squeeze in half a day on the car today, I really wanted to get the pedal box sorted and the loom finished off.

I started with the pedal box but after fitting it, I couldn’t work out how to get the clevises onto the brake balance bar as every time I wound one end on the other would just fall off.  After what seemed like hours of trying I posted onto Locost Builders and was given the answer, you fit the balance bar first and then wind the push rods from the master cylinders.

Once the pedal box was in I formed the bracket for the resevoir and fitted that

I then started on the loom installation, I had already loosely fitted the loom but I wanted to run round it again changing the white tie-wraps I have fixed it with to black ones.

Where the loom passes into the tunnel you need to have an ali panel made up, so after a call to a friend and a bit of groveling I gave him the sizes and he made one for me

Day 1:

After getting the kit all unpacked and put on shelves and the floor etc, it was time to start.

I opened the MNR build manual and started, the first job is to fit the ally bulkhead panels which I thought would be a really easy job as they are pre-cut, but after much cutting and filing they where put in place only then to find out that the new set of drill bits I had bought where actually made out of butter!!!!

After a trip to the local Toolstation the panels where fitted, and secured.

After the panels where in, as I was working on my own I thought I would set about getting the loom fitted.

I started working from the front and worked my way back to the rear at which point one of my helpers had arrived, we decided to get the diff into place to ensure that the loom would bypass it OK

Once the loom was roughly in position I decided to crack on with the pedal box installation, but I only got to drill 2 holes before we had a power cut that lasted 13 hours……..don’t Southern Electric know I am trying to build a car!!!
