Why I chose an MNR..
This is a long story, I spent a massive amount of time online especially www.locostbuilders.co.uk doing a lot of research.
What I found was that there are a lot of manufacturers out there making ‘7’ style kits with prices from ‘cheap’ to ‘expensive’.
I knew that I wanted to be able to buy all the bits required from the supplier, as the last thing I wanted was an old Sierra parked on the drive with half the bits taken off!! (and the Mrs would not of allowed it)
This precluded some of the manufacturers so I ended up with MK and MNR as my top 2, not only did I want to be able to buy the parts I also wanted them to of been refurbished and ready to go, after speaking with both MNR & MK I decided to go with MNR as they could supply me everything ready to go.
Engine choice: I had already decided that my kit had to be powered by a bike engine – so a Yamaha R1 engine was chosen
KIT SPEC:
RT Plus
Full race cage
Uprated R1 engine 175bhp
Paddleshift gear change
Race manifold & exhaust system
Race Radiator (4 core)
Power Commander
Yamaha Blue with Black Arches
Yamaha Blue tunnel cover with Black Top insert
Black fascia
Good choice of engine 😀
Good luck with the build 😉
Great choice. Blue & Black is the future! My only question is about the race rad. I’m not sure if it’s needed. There are lots of people running the Polo rad that find it difficult to get the R1 up to ‘normal’ operating temps in anything except high summer. I’m guessing that you are fitting a late-engine R1 which may be different, but just thought I’d raise the point.
Good Luck – I hope you have more time to build yours than I do!

Thanks for the feedback on the Rad, I do intend to race the car at some stage so opted for the Race Rad, I guess I will just have to monitor during normal road use
